Have you ever thought about why you are afraid of your own greatness?

You know what? I’ve been thinking about this for so long, and I usually speak about this topic, especially to my clients.

You have been lied to. You’ve been told that shadow work is all about digging through your darkness, healing your wounds, and facing your demons. And if you don’t know what shadow work means, I need you to go check out episode number 67 and episode number 68 because I break it down into parts for you. 67 is the 101 on shadow work, and 68 is the 102, which means part two of shadow work. This is the opposite of shadow work, which means today, in this episode, I am going to tell you a lot of other things that I really need you to pay attention to.

So why was I saying that you’ve been lied to? Because we keep hearing that healing is about going through darkness, healing your wounds, and facing your demons. While I know that’s true, there is something missing in this conversation—something really, really big.

What if I told you that your shadow isn’t just the parts of yourself that you’re ashamed of but also the parts of you that are magnificent? And what if your fear isn’t of failure but of your own success, your own power, or your own greatness?

So I really need you to listen to part one of Shadow Work and part two and then come back to this podcast. But if you already know about Shadow Work, then continue listening to this episode. Today, we are going to completely change the story on Shadow Work and dive into the Golden Shadow, which is the side of you that’s so powerful, so magnetic, so damn brilliant, that you have been hiding it from yourself. I promise you, by the end of this podcast episode, you’ll see yourself differently.

Welcome to another episode of Supercharge Your Soul’s Transformation Podcast. I am your host, Dimple Bindra, and today, we are going to talk about the Golden Shadow and why you are afraid of your own greatness.

And if you have been listening to me, thank you so much for coming back. If you can spare 10 seconds, please go give us a review on iTunes so that we can reach more people and do press the follow button. I will really appreciate it, especially me and my team. It will mean the world to us.

So let’s go into what is your Golden Shadow. The Golden Shadow is actually the hidden, suppressed greatness that’s within you—the strengths, your talents, your confidence, and the brilliance that you unconsciously push away because they feel too powerful, too big, too different from what you have been taught to embrace.

Just like traditional Shadow Work focuses on healing repressed trauma, fear, and shame, the Golden Shadow refers to the positive traits that we have disowned in ourselves due to the fear of standing out, societal conditioning, or even lack of self-worth.

So you must be thinking, how does the Golden Shadow form? Well, from a very young age, many of us are conditioned by our society, our parents—it sucks, you know—to dim our light in order just to fit in. You may have been told, “Hey, don’t be too confident,” or “You’re not special,” or “Who do you think you are?” or “You need to be realistic.” I was told, “You’re a rebellious girl. Shut up. Don’t talk that way. You’re a girl.” You see what I’m saying? Like all these statements.

Because of this, you bury your gifts, your charisma, and your boldness in the same way you might suppress your fears or insecurities. I’ll give you a few examples. Let’s say you were naturally a leader, but people called you bossy—you might have rejected your leadership qualities. Or if you were a highly creative person but told that art doesn’t make any money—which I know so many artists suffer from because they keep feeling like they cannot make money because they are an artist—you may have abandoned your artistic potential. Or if you had a strong presence but were told to be humble, then you may have learned to play small.

So how do you recognize your Golden Shadow? I have found that the easiest way to find your Golden Shadow is to pay attention to who you admire or envy. That person you can’t stop watching, that celebrity on Instagram, that entrepreneur on LinkedIn, or that leader that you wish you could be like. That friend who always seems confident, magnetic, or successful.

What you admire in them—guess what?—is a reflection of a hidden part of you. A strength that you have pushed into your own Golden Shadow. Think about that, right? The people we really like on movie screens or on our phone screen, we’re like, “Wow, I really like this girl. I really, really like this person.” Everything you like about that person is also within you. You’ve just somehow suppressed it deep down. It’s just buried under a layer of trauma, societal conditioning, all your thoughts. Everything that’s on top is all the junk, and everything at the bottom is the actual treasure.

So I’m gonna break it down for you on how you can integrate your Golden Shadow. And for that, I want you to stay till the end of this podcast. If you like this, then please give us a review on iTunes and follow us wherever you listen to our podcast. It will mean the world to me.

Now, let me break it down in a way that actually makes sense for you. Step one: recognize your projections. What do I mean by recognizing your projections? If you admire someone for their qualities, you have to understand that you also have that quality within you because you can never admire someone if you do not have that quality. Makes sense?

So here’s the truth. You know all those people you admire? The ones you idolize, envy, or even feel triggered by? That’s your Golden Shadow talking. Let’s say you see someone who’s confident, a natural leader, super creative, or magnetic in a way that you wish you were. Instead of celebrating them, you feel a mix of admiration and jealousy—maybe even a little bitterness.

You catch yourself thinking, “I wish I could be like that,” or “Why does it come so easy for them?” or “Must be nice that they have that level of confidence.” Here’s a mic-drop moment: You wouldn’t admire those qualities if they weren’t inside of you.

Does that make sense? If something is inside you, that’s why you recognize it outside in your reality. Somewhere along the way, you just pushed them down—maybe when you were a kid, maybe you were told you were too much, that good girls don’t act that way (in my case), or that humility means staying small. So you buried those qualities deep, deep, deep down.

Now, how do you recognize your Golden Shadow right now? I want you to do this exercise with me. Think of three people you admire or feel a little envious of. Think of them right now. Then write down exactly what you admire about them. Is it their confidence? Their courage? Their success?

Now, ask yourself: Where does this exist in me? How have I been suppressing this part of me all along? Trust me, it’s there. You just haven’t owned it yet.

So we talked about the first step. The second step is you’re going to accept your brilliance. Listen to that again. Accept your brilliance.

You’re not going to brush off your greatness again. Now that you’ve realized those amazing qualities are actually yours, we need to talk about how you keep rejecting them. Let me guess—you’ve probably done this before, right?

Some things I used to do in the past were: If someone gave me a compliment, I’d downplay it. I’d say, “Oh no, it was nothing.” Or if I was given an opportunity, I’d doubt myself and think, “Am I really ready for this?”—even though I had already been given that opportunity. Or let’s say you secretly dream of doing something big but convince yourself it’s unrealistic.

That means you’re downplaying your Golden Shadow.

So here’s what I need you to understand. You wouldn’t even have these desires if you weren’t meant to have them. The problem isn’t that you lack ability. The problem is that you don’t think you’re allowed to shine.

So how do you start owning your strengths?

  1. Stop rejecting compliments. Next time someone praises you, just say thank you. No downplaying it. No awkwardness. Just own it.
  2. Keep track of your wins. Write down every time you do something badass—even the smallest things. Seeing it in front of you will help rewire your brain.
  3. Ask yourself: “What would I do if I actually believed in myself?” Then go ahead and do that thing, even if it’s in smaller steps. Because the more you own your brilliance, the less scary it feels.

Now we’re going to step three, which is the most powerful step.

Step 3: Step into your power.

No more waiting for permission. Here’s where most people get stuck. They know they have something incredible inside them, but then they wait.

  • “I’ll do it when I’m more confident.”
  • “I’ll step up when I have more experience.”
  • “I’ll speak up when I feel ready.”

That’s bullshit. Your Golden Shadow is a part of you. By waiting, you’re downplaying your experience, ignoring your gut feelings, and suppressing your greatness all over again.

Here’s another mic-drop moment: You’re never going to feel ready.

Because confidence does not come before action—it comes from taking action.

Makes sense? If you take action, you feel confident.

Like today, my stomach was hurting. I did not want to do this podcast. In fact, I recorded this podcast after an expert interview, and I was like, “Wait, my makeup is on, my jacket is on, my clothes look great. But my stomach is hurting because I’m dealing with my condition”—which I’ll talk about in another podcast some other day. I did not want to do this. But I still did it.

Why? Because confidence doesn’t come before action—it comes from taking action.

So how do you really start stepping into your power today?

  1. Take the smallest possible step. Trust me, this really works. For me, my smallest step was not closing my laptop and recording this podcast. For you, it could be anything small. If you want to be a speaker, post a short video sharing your thoughts. If you want to be a leader, speak up in one meeting. If you want to feel more confident, dress in a way that makes you feel powerful. Just take the smallest step you can today.
  2. Do the things that scare you. This is the hard one. Growth does not happen in comfort. You have to challenge yourself daily to step outside your comfort zone—because that’s where your Golden Shadow is waiting for you.
  3. Embody the person you admire.

You have to embody that person. For me, it was always Oprah Winfrey. I admired her deeply. But you have to stop waiting to become confident—you need to act like you already are.

Ask yourself: How would your most magnetic, powerful self show up?

Go ahead and do just that.

You do not need to become someone else. You are the person you have been waiting for.

You don’t need to be more than you already are. You just need to uncover what’s already within you. Your Golden Shadow is that part of you that’s been waiting to be reclaimed.

You have spent way too long running from your own greatness, and it’s time for you to own it, embody it, and live it.

So here’s my challenge for you: What’s one small way you’re going to step into your power today?
