So you heard the previous podcast, which was the shadow work that we did part one, this is part two of the shadow work.
So you’ve started the shadow work, you’ve uncovered patterns, and you met your fears head-on and realized how much of your life has been shaped by the parts of you that were once hidden, but now what? How do you actually integrate your shadow so it stops running the show?
Because let’s be real again. We can have awareness about our shadows, but that does not change your life. You can journal, meditate, do yoga, and unpack your past all day, but if you don’t integrate what you have learned, you’ll stay stuck in the same cycle. And that’s why you probably wonder why people don’t change, because they never integrated their shadows into their current present self.
And in part two of our deep dive into shadow work, we are not just going to expose the shadows. We’re also learning how to own them, to heal them. And use them as fuel for growth. So stay tuned.
Welcome to another episode of Supercharge Your Soul’s Transformation Podcast, and today we’re gonna learn about part two of Shadow Work. So if you have been listening to me already for a long time, then thank you so much and please if you can give us a review, that’ll be great. But if this is your first time then welcome to the show. Remember this is part two of shadow work. Part one is the previous episode, so do listen to that and I will definitely link it in the show notes as well.
So what are we gonna cover today? We are going to talk about how shadow integration, what does it actually mean and why it’s the missing piece of true healing. We’re also gonna break free from the emotional triggers and the self-sabotaging patterns, so do stay till the end, OK? And we’re also going to learn about the balance between the light and the dark and why wholeness is not about eliminating your shadow, but it’s about embracing it.
So you can never take out, you know, whatever you don’t like about yourself. You have to integrate it into the whole. And also we’re going to learn about how to rewrite the story that you have been telling yourself about who you are and stepping into your power and just practical exercises and affirmations and mindset shifts to integrate your shadow so that you can create a lasting change for yourself and for the people around you.
And if you are tired of uncovering the same old wounds over and over again, and you’re ready to finally own your whole self, then this episode is for you. So let’s do the real work. Are you ready? I was born ready. So let’s do it.
All right, let’s get straight into it. Shadow work is not about uncovering your wounds. It’s about learning how to live with them. Work with them. And transform them, because if you don’t, they will keep running your life from the background. And think about it, how many times have you told yourself you have healed from something, only to find yourself triggered again and again and again?
That’s because healing is not about just awareness. It’s about integration, and today’s episode is about integration. And what is shadow integration? Shadow integration is the process of accepting, understanding, and working with the parts of yourself that you have been conditioned to hide. It’s moving beyond just knowing your shadow exists and actually rewiring your responses to it, OK?
I’m gonna give you a few examples. And people who are going to listen to this may laugh because this is something that’s a very ongoing problem in everyone’s lives and you may come across someone who has been exhibiting this behavior.
So example, the one is. Instead of you reacting with anger when someone criticizes you, you pause and ask, hey, why is this triggering me? And how can I respond with self-awareness? That is integration. If you haven’t integrated, someone reacts with anger and criticizes you, you will just react with anger back right away. You’ll like, you’ll be reactive, you will criticize them, you will just start a fight. So you see what I’m saying, where’s the difference?
Let’s go into a second example. Instead of feeling guilty for setting boundaries, you recognize that prioritizing yourself is an act of self-respect, not selfishness. And that happened to me recently. My sister came to visit from New York and I just got sick that day and instantly I’m like she’s like, let’s go to Pismo Beach. I’m like, I’m sorry, I don’t feel good right now, so you guys can go and have fun.
So I respected that she’s here, but I set some boundaries right away, but before, if I had not done the integration work, I would have just gone. And I would have felt even worse afterwards during the trip. I would have been groggy and irritated and frustrated. So I saved us a lot of hassle and I just want to say it’s because I’ve been doing the shadow work for so many years now. I understand that some of the signs are we have to recognize why we are acting a certain way. Especially if it’s triggering us, we need to recognize, pause and reflect.
So signs that you haven’t integrated your shadow yet. Here are some of the signs, and if you’re still experiencing these patterns, it might mean you’re aware of your shadow, but you haven’t fully integrated it.
Number one, you still feel triggered by the same things even after recognizing where they come from.
Two, you struggle to fully accept yourself, especially the parts that don’t fit societal expectations.
Number three, you find yourself repeating the cycles even though you know better. Like you know you keep doing the same mistake and your wife is telling you that or your husband is telling you that, but you know it and you keep repeating it.
OK, so how do you actually integrate your shadow? Here is the time. Here is where you are gonna start.
Number one, I need you to recognize the shadow’s purpose. Every negative trait has a deeper hole and a role within our psyche. Instead of rejecting it, ask, what is this part of me trying to protect?
Two, have a conversation with the shadow. Literally, sit down, close your eyes and ask, what do you need from me? What are you afraid of? Sit down, close your eyes, and the answers will come to you because your inner child will talk to you.
Number three, I need you to express and not suppress. Find healthy outlets for your emotion, whether it’s journaling or movement or art or just talking to a friend or talking to someone who understands. Unexpressed energy becomes stored trauma. Just remember that. If you’re not expressing it healthily, that becomes stored trauma.
Number four, you need to reframe the narrative. You need to rewrite the story. Instead of saying I’m too sensitive, shift that to my sensitivity is my superpower. Instead of saying I’m bad at boundaries, shift it to I’m learning to protect my energy.
And I also want you to try these affirmations for shadow integration. This will really work. Just say these out really loud or just write them down.
I welcome all parts of me, the light and the dark. I embrace my shadows as teachers, not enemies. My emotions are valid, and I allow myself to feel without judgment. I’m not broken. I’m whole.
I hope these affirmations will help you because they really helped me a lot, especially when I was doing this integration work. You need to understand that this work is not about becoming perfect. You are trying to become whole and you’re also trying to hold space for every version of you—the one who’s healing, the one who’s growing, and even the one who’s still figuring this shit out. Life is hard, so we have to figure it out. We just don’t understand all parts of our souls. And the moment you stop fighting yourself and start embracing all that you are, that’s when the real transformation happens.
