So if you’re constantly glued to your screen, it is time for digital detox and you need to find out how you can reclaim your time and your sanity.

0:20

And we all know that in today’s world, we are constantly on the phone, especially when we are in a relationship, our partners can’t even see us.

0:29

Sometimes when you have kids, your own kids do not even know who you are because your face is hidden by your phone.

0:38

So today, I’m gonna give you five different tips that will really help you to basically disconnect from your cell phone or if you’re on your laptop.

0:48

So number one, learn how to put on the screen timer.

0:55

Yes, I would say if there is a certain app that you’re always glued to, let’s say Instagram, Facebook, whatsapp, if there’s a certain app that you’re always glued to, all you need to do is put on a screen timer.

1:08

So our apps, a lot of apps, they have the lock button, they have the functionality where you can simply lock the app after a certain time.

1:20

So I don’t know if it’s called screen time or I think it’s called screen timer.

1:23

But anyway, if you can put on that screen timer where you are in a certain app and after three minutes or four minutes of you being on the app, your phone gets locked.

1:32

That is a way for you to save yourself and not be totally glued to that particular app.

1:40

Number two, I need you to understand that the more energy that you give out through your eyes, the more you will feel depleted and fatigued.

1:51

Let me explain how when we use our eyes constantly or we use our ears a lot or we talk a lot or we’re using our senses of our nose a lot.

2:01

Either of your five senses that you’re using a lot, you will start feeling that your energy is depleted in order for you to save your mental health and for you to have balanced emotions, especially when you feel like you are getting irritated, frustrated or you’re numbing your certain feelings, you need to save up your energy.

2:23

And for that, we should try our best not to stick to our phones or not to stick to being on our laptops.

2:31

And for that, most people are actually using, including me are using, you know, I, I use my cell phone a lot.

2:39

I use my laptop a lot because I have to basically do my work based on that.

2:44

But the moment I know that, ok, I’m done with it.

2:47

I don’t just sit there and browse so because a lot of times my eyes will get tired or my head will get tired or my neck gets tired.

2:54

So if you understand that you’re using your eyes a lot, especially if you’re on your phone, you need to take a moment and remind yourself and set up different times of the day that you are allowing yourself to be on your phone and then set up times that you should not be on your phone.

3:12

For example, as soon as you wake up, what do you should do?

3:15

You should never turn on your phone as soon as you wake up.

3:19

So one recommendation to save your eyes is as soon as you wake up, we are in a very different state of mind and being we are in a, in a very altered state of consciousness.

3:31

So as soon as you wake up, I want you to sit and concentrate on your breath, maybe just chant if you like to chant or do an affirmation for the day or set an intention for the day and then try not to turn on your cell phone unless and until you give yourself at least 30 minutes, 30 minutes to an hour to yourself first and then you turn on your phone.

3:56

But if you have to turn on your phone just because you want to play some music, that’s a different story.

4:00

But your intention is I am not going to check my emails or I am not going to go on Instagram.

4:08

So set up that intention and instead tell yourself the 1st 30 minutes to an hour, I’m gonna give it to myself.

4:15

Therefore, you save your eyes in the long run.

4:18

And just so you know, if you are on your phone for more than four hours a day, your energy gets depleted through your eyes and as you get depleted, you’ll feel fatigued, you will feel headaches, you will feel migraines, you will feel neck aes.

4:33

So you get the point tip number three is set a boundary with you and your phone.

4:40

Let me explain.

4:42

So you need to tell yourself that I’m a human, I’m a person and my phone is just another device or another instrument or you want to call it a thing.

4:54

And another thing that I am attached to these are for, especially for a lot of addicts, ok?

4:59

If you’re addicted to your phone and you feel like, yeah, I’m constantly on it.

5:04

I just want you to do a rundown on go into your phone and check how much time are you spending on each app.

5:11

So write it all down.

5:12

So tip number three is bring the awareness of how much time are you really spending on your phone if it is more than four hours, I’m sorry, but your life is doomed.

5:24

Don’t get me wrong here.

5:26

But I’m trying to say that your life is doomed because you are disconnecting yourself from yourself and you’re connected to an object.

5:33

You see what I’m saying?

5:34

And us being addicted to other objects is not good for us.

5:38

So my tip is bring the awareness of how much time are you spending per day on your phone and write it down.

5:49

Once you write it down, you know.

5:52

All right, I’m spending this much time and then you want to set a boundary.

5:55

So the way you set your boundary is you tell yourself and again, you need to create your own rules.

6:01

You tell yourself after 9 p.m. I’m not going to be on, on my phone or right before I go to sleep, you need to give yourself 30 minutes to 40 minutes to wind down because you’re as we all know this, the blue light from your screen is messing up your brain and if it messes up your brain, you cannot fall asleep.

6:22

So it’s recommended that if you have sleep issues as it is, you should not be on it on your device.

6:29

So set a boundary limit, your phone usage and as you set your boundary, you pick your time and your slot, like what time you should not be on your phone.

6:39

For example, I should not be on my phone when I’m eating.

6:42

I should not be on my phone or I will not be on my phone when I am winding down or I’m not going to be on my phone when my partner is talking to me.

6:52

So if you start setting up these little rules over time with practice, you will start detoxing from your cell phone.

7:01

Next tip, tip number four is an energy tip.

7:05

So I learned this through my teacher who was a professor in energy medicine.

7:11

And she would tell us for all the people out there who are addicted to their cell phones.

7:16

Here is what you do.

7:17

Pick five things that can separate you from your phone.

7:21

So you’re going to say for example, and I’m going to do this exercise with you, for example, say your name.

7:27

So my name is Dimple.

7:28

This is an iphone.

7:30

I have brown hair.

7:32

My phone is black in color.

7:34

So you got to pick, you get the point, you got to pick three more points.

7:38

So I’m going to go on, I have a nose.

7:40

My phone does not have a nose.

7:42

My phone has a home button.

7:44

I am a woman.

7:46

My phone is a thing and lastly I am a living person, my phone does not breathe.

7:54

So I’m picking five neutral things that separates me from my device.

7:59

And then the most important part after you pick the five neutral things that separates you from the person or the thing you wanna separate from.

8:09

This is an energy management technique.

8:12

You say I need my energy back into me in this moment because this is my gift and I am gonna give my phone’s energy back to it because it’s, it’s it’s it’s gift.

8:25

So it’s my phone’s gift to have its own energy.

8:29

It is my gift that I’m calling back.

8:31

Or in simpler terms, you can even say I’m calling my energy back to me and I am disconnecting from my iphone in present time.

8:42

If you say this line, what happens is your energy will start shifting.

8:47

You will start disconnecting from your cell phone.

8:49

You will start feeling like, yeah, I feel like there is a shift between me and my phone.

8:54

Remember if you have the habit of taking your phone with you at all places, you can definitely do this one tip by just saying, I’m calling my energy back to me and I’m disconnecting my energy from my iphone.

9:07

And my last tip for all of you listeners is that remember you are the most important person in the world.

9:15

So tip number five is to understand that everything that we give our energy to depletes us, it makes us feel powerless.

9:26

It makes us feel less than it makes us feel we are not good enough.

9:31

So tip number five is to understand that we are the most important person in our lives.

9:39

And if we are giving our energy to anything and this topic, this podcast is all about digital detox.

9:46

It’s about getting disconnected from our cell phones and our tablets and our laptops.

9:52

But if you bring on this tip to everything else in your life that you’re really giving your energy to for example, a partner example, alcohol, maybe drugs, maybe smoking.

10:03

So then you understand that you can pretty much do this with anything.

10:06

So tip number five again is for you to understand that you are the most important person in your life.

10:14

If you know that and if you don’t know that, then cultivate that awareness again and again, by telling yourself I’m the most important person in my life.

10:23

Then why the fuck?

10:24

And am I being on my phone?

10:26

24 7?

10:27

You see what I’m saying?

10:28

Because when you’re giving your energy outwards gets where it’s going, it’s going, you’re feeding in so much junk that you’re seeing through your eyes, through your senses, you’re putting in so much junk into your brain and then you live with all that information in your brain and then imagine you go and look outwards into your reality with that information.

10:49

You’re talking to relationships with that information.

10:53

Sometimes you’re sleeping with that junk information.

10:56

And I’m not saying here that all you’re seeing or doing is junk, but use your phone as a method for you to communicate with others.

11:05

Use your phone as a method for you to maybe learn something.

11:08

But if you’re constantly on it and you’re just swiping left and right or scrolling mindlessly, that is the time that you need to tell yourself that’s it.

11:20

I am not doing what I’m supposed to do in this lifetime.

11:23

Instead, I’m wasting my time doing this and I am now going to bring my attention back into me because I am the most important person.

11:31
